We just scripted an entire data center migration to OCI that would have taken a year to design and implement in less than 24 hours. Join this informative session where practical in-the-field experiences are shared. There is almost no reason to still have an on-premises datacenter. Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC) provides a unique opportunity to move your databases to the Oracle cloud without leaving your own data center. It allows cloud flexibility and keeps full control over the data and can be an excellent opportunity for the first step to the cloud before the full adoption of the public cloud approach. During the presentation, we will discuss available options, calculate cost and capacity, and how to move your databases over to the ExaCC. We will discuss the necessary organization and process changes based on the real experience of deploying one of the first Gen 2 ExaCC in Canada.

We will walk through available options for ExaCC Gen2, the principal architect, and what we need to keep in mind when we estimate capacity.

The second part will be dedicated to migration options and what tools can be used for testing, migration, and how to make it with minimal downtime.

The third part will be about changes required from the in-house DBA team and the company’s processes and change management after migration to the new environment.

All are based on the real experience of multiple migrations to the ExaCC Gen 1 and Gen 2.

Over a number of years, he has been chosen to be a presenter at different conferences in the USA, Europe and Japan.
